About Michael Sikorsky

The third-person-bio:Michael has been called an “Internet Revolutionary” by Profit magazine, and a “CEO to watch” by CNN Money. In addition to speaking at conferences throughout the world, he has also spoken at Harvard Business School, MIT, and Stanford.

Michael has raised over $10 Million dollars for his ventures, won a national elevator pitch contest, is an innovator, holds a patent related to rendering, and sold his last company to ThoughtWorks when he was 28.

He is an reasonably active angel investor with portfolio companies across North America.

Michael’s current company (#6 and hopefully last) is Robots and Pencils. R&P makes things for the iPhone, Web, and Desktop.

Michael’s last company, Cambrian House, was his 5th startup and has been called a “national treasure in the Web2.0 space, constantly pushing the boundaries in all that they do”. Recently, it was selected as the #4 best Web2.0 company across Canada by Backbone Magazine (Globe and Mail) and KPMG.

He is married to Camille (the other co-founder of Robots and Pencils) and a proud father of twins: Vienna and Rayne. He loves his family, reading and making good by supporting the arts and sciences.

The first-person-backgrounder:

Not telling juicy details about a first-kiss gone terribly wrong, my childhood (Canadian) or horrible product ideas I’ve had, I think, would be best. However, that leaves me with very little to discuss.

Why all the killing?

My Mom hates the name ‘killing michael’. For me it represents an ideal of growth. Pushing yourself hard enough to make it difficult to recognize the last person you were.
